December Newsletter
12/4/2017
Dear Parents,
December is here and our class excitement about the holidays are in full swing! We are still focusing on academics and will have some end of Unit testing during the month of December. We are busy forming words and saying word blends, comparing numbers, measuring, and learning about national symbols. We are working on our ability to write a story that contains a beginning, middle, and end. The children are doing a great job with their little reading baggies. Please send them back by December 18 along with all library books. Kids can read using Headsprout and their online reading logins over the break. Additionally, your child can do their 6 Flags Reading and complete their reading logs over the long break.
Along with our normal curriculum, we are also getting to learn about holidays around the world during this time of year. We will be discussing Christmas, Kwanza, and Hanukkah. It is important that students recognize the diversity that makes our country so great! If your family celebrates another holiday not mentioned and you would be interested in sharing it with the children, then please send me the details and I will add it to our December holidays.
We will be having a classroom holiday party on December 18th from 1:00-2:00. If you would like to volunteer to work at a station, you are more than welcome! We will be doing arts and crafts projects, playing games, and eating yummy snacks. It will be a fun time for all! Please send a note or email me letting me know you are interested in volunteering. Volunteer hours will be from 12:25-2 PM.
Please make sure that your child is coming to school daily with a heavy jacket and any other cozy winter items. The mornings are very cold and it is important that they have the appropriate clothing. If you need any help with a jacket for your child, then do not hesitate to contact our school counselors or our parent liaison, Cristina Clinton in the front office and they will be happy to help you.
I am very lucky this year to have such wonderful kids and supportive parents in my classroom. I thank all of you for a great first half of the year and wish you happy holidays and a wonderful New Year!
Well wishes,
Ms. Wilcoxox's Wise Ones
